CONTRADICTION · RESURRECTION
Who Informed the Women?
Mark 16:5; Luke 24:4,23; Matthew 28:7 ⟷ John 20:2
Mark: a young man. Luke: two men. Matthew: an angel spoke to the women.
John: Mary tells the disciples, 'They have taken away the Lord...' with no angelic message.
This is significant because it addresses authenticity of the resurrection testimony. Conflicting accounts of who informed the women cast doubt on the event’s portrayal. Muslims highlight these variations to argue that the Bible’s text isn’t perfectly preserved. The Quran, free from such variance, reinforces the belief in its divine integrity.
THE CHRISTIAN RESPONSE
Angels can appear in human form, and each Gospel may highlight different messengers or stages. John shows confusion, not contradiction.
THE ISLAMIC POSITION
Muslims ask if God’s word is perfect, why so many versions of who delivered the news? Such discrepancies point to human error. The Quran’s uniformity contrasts with biblical confusion.
