DIVINITY OF CHRIST · MESSENGER
Words from the Sender
...the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
If Jesus were God, he would not distinguish his words from the Father’s. Instead, he states that he merely conveys the Father’s message, emphasising his messenger role and dependence on God’s revelation.
THE CHRISTIAN RESPONSE
They argue Jesus speaks the Father’s words because they share the same divine essence.
THE ISLAMIC POSITION
Jesus denies owning the message, attributing it solely to the Father. This dependency on another for doctrine contradicts co-divinity.
