JUSTICE · CONTRADICTION
Blind Man Not Punished
And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
This dialogue challenges the assumption that physical ailments are direct punishments for sin. It suggests a paradigm where personal sins are not automatically transferred or inherited.
THE CHRISTIAN RESPONSE
They maintain Jesus only addresses specific suffering, not the universal question of inherited sin. Muslim Response: By attributing the blindness to God’s plan rather than parental sin, the passage undermines inherited guilt and emphasises individual accountability for one’s own actions.
