Psalm 107:1

The Tension
PASSAGE APsalm 107:1
Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

[ Ibrāhīm - 7]

[ Ibrāhīm - 7] And (remember) when your Lord proclaimed: "If you give thanks (by accepting Faith and worshipping none but Allah), I will give you more (of My Blessings), but if you are thankless (i.e. disbelievers), verily! My Punishment is indeed severe."

Analysis

This verse is relevant because it showcases that recognizing God’s goodness and offering thanks is a longstanding religious practice. Islam echoes this priority, insisting that believers continually express gratitude. By referencing such texts, Muslims underscore that Islamic worship practices uphold ancient traditions of acknowledging and appreciating divine benevolence.
