Avoiding Oppression

Zechariah 7:10

The Tension
PASSAGE AZechariah 7:10
Do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the foreigner, or the poor. Do not plot evil in your hearts against each other.

[An-Nisāʼ - 10]

[An-Nisāʼ - 10] Verily, those who unjustly eat up the property of orphans, they eat up only a fire into their bellies, and they will be burnt in the blazing Fire!

Analysis

This example is relevant because it demonstrates that fundamental moral injunctions—like treating the powerless with justice—are consistent across faiths. By showing that the Bible also emphasizes caring for orphans, widows, and strangers, Muslims highlight that Islamic teachings reinforce, rather than replace, the core ethical principles revealed before. Understanding these links helps clarify that Islam seeks to restore lost aspects of divine guidance, not present a novel morality unrelated to prior scripture.
